St. Vinnies score of the week

image

If you live by the Madison,WI Dig n Save I highly recommend checking it out, especially if you’re into vintage things or crafting or tinkering with electronics. These are my top wins o’ the week. Total cost = $2. It really is true…one (wo)man’s trash is another (wo)man’s treasure.

It’s great…you pay by the pound for clothes and misc. items and then all the furniture and electronics are individually priced and dirt cheap.

Make sure to bring rubber gloves! The clothes and miscellaneous items aren’t shelved at all, they dump everything into multiple gigantic troughs and you get to sift through everything which is fun but potentially slimy/gross/messy.

Umm, I live in CA, no Dig n Save’s for miles. Lol. Goodwill is the closest I have.

Aw man, that’s a drag. I thought there were multiple locations. Well, if you ever visit Madison it would be well worth your time and money to spend a week visiting the D & S and filling a U-Haul to drive back home. We’ve purchased items for $3 that are selling on eBay for $800 (and their items are totally ragged compared to what we got!).

I love vintage Barbie’s, when I saw those – I was like that is a major score! The my “big” find is a sterling silver dance card purse from 1907, made in England. I paid $5 for. It’s in excellent condition. I treasure it more because inside there are dance cards from the gentleman’s wife and I assume a lock of his hair from when he went to war. So I still believe in fairy tales.

Oh my god, I’ve been keeping an eye out for dance cards. I bet you could just print your own, but I want the genuine old school yellowed/smelling like antique ladies/funky paper originals. Nice find! I didn’t know they made purses for carrying them, I figured they were more like business card holders.
